STAND

Mentoring Disclosure 2021-2022

 

Objective of Course:

Students, working closely with your mentor teacher, students will learn how to:

1. set and accomplish daily and weekly goals in their learning

2.  work together to complete homework

3. improve their interpersonal skills with other students and staff

4. identify SEL (Social-emotional learning) skills  that help them to identify and manage problems/stress they may face

5. reach long term goals for the academic year. 

Grading - Academic and Citizenship

 STAND grades WILL impact GPA and WILL impact a student's eligibility to participate in extra-curricular activities

Students will receive .25 elective credits for their participation in the course.

Normal grading scale applies. 70% participation/Attendance required.  

P (pass)

1.  Attending Stand (do not miss more than 8 classes).

2.  Participating in mentoring meeting.

3.  Making adequate progress toward academic goals.

F (fail)

1.  8 unexcused absences

2.  Refusing to participate in the mentoring process.

"once a student receives 4 unexcused absences, they will be referred to their counselor.  Students receiving a lowered academic grade purely because of attendance is ONLY applicable to STAND. However, it would be acceptable for teachers to work with students toward improving attendance and participation to ear a "P".

Citizenship will be based on the school-wide citizenship rubric

 

 

Attendance:

Attendance for the STAND course will follow our school attendance policy. Students should plan to attend each day to receive participation points for that day. Students with individual scheduling circumstances should discuss those concerns with their STAND teacher and counselor.

 

All Students will have a STAND teacher regardless of Home Release, DTC, or other scheduling conflicts.
