ABOUT ME:

Hello!!

My name is Suzie Kendell and I am a Registered Nurse and the CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) Teacher here at Viewmont High School.  I am a graduate of Bonneville High School and Weber State University.  I dreamed about being a nurse as a little girl, always taking on a medical role of some sort when playing with friends or my sisters.  I was accepted into the Weber State Nursing Program right out of high school and was able to graduate and immediately go to work at McKay Dee Hospital.  I worked in ICU for one year, and then took a different path into the world of Maternity and Labor and Delivery Nursing.  I worked at McKay Dee for 15 years, at which time I left to become a teacher of EMR, Intro to Health and my favorite - CNA!!  I taught at Weber High School for 4 years and then decided my kids needed their mom at home.  12 years later, I re-joined the workforce and was able to open the CNA program here at Viewmont!  This will be my 14th year here and I still love being able to share my love for nursing and health care with my students every day!!

We love horses at our house and are very involved with the world of Rodeo!!  I am the Assistant Director for the Miss Rodeo Utah organization and serve with the committee for the Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo as well as serving on the National Advisory Council for Miss Rodeo America.  My granddaughter, Addison Redd, just completed her reign as the 2022-23 National High School Rodeo Queen!!

I live in the beautiful town of Uintah at the mouth of Weber Canyon with my husband Rick.  We will celebrate our 42nd wedding anniversary this year!!  I am the proud mother of 1 daughter, 3 sons, their spouses and the lucky grandma of 9 precious grandkids, 7 of them girls!!

Welcome to the Certified Nurse Assistant Course!

You are about to take the first step to a rewarding career in the Health Care Field.  This course is under the direction of the Utah Nursing Assistant Registry (UNAR) and therefore will follow their guidelines and outlined curriculum.

Throughout the semester, we will be learning about and practicing how to care for patients and residents in both medical and residential settings.  A great deal of time is spent learning, practicing and passing off 75 skills required by the Utah Nursing assistant Registry (UNAR).  Once these skills are perfected, the students will attend clinicals where they will take care of actual patients/residents and receive that real-life experience and pass off those skills again in the clinical setting.  Then it is time to review, prepare for, and take the State CNA Certification Exam - both a written and a skills test, so that the students can receive their CNA certification and get out there and enjoy a great job while still in high school!

There is so much you will learn and fun times ahead, so grab your stethoscope and let's get started!!
