Welcome!
Thank you for visiting my page. I will provide some basic information here for parents, guardians, and general public.
Starting the 2024-25 school year, Weber State has asked for all of my courses to be run on Weber State's Canvas. Everything for the class can be found there and I will provide necessary links below.
I will keep an updated letter grade on the individual DSD Canvas courses but it will only be a letter grade to reflect what a student is currently earning on Weber State Canvas.
Note: Links to resources have not been vetted beyond the original page cited
Instructor Information:
I have enjoyed a successful teaching career at Viewmont High School. I believe education creates opportunities clearly seen in both the classroom and in everyday life. I have coached various sports over the years from the freshman to varsity level and recently completed a 15 year career as the head girls tennis coach for Viewmont. I have helped developed curriculum and educational standards for Davis School District and the State of Utah. Currently, I teach Concurrent Enrollment History and Concurrent Enrollment Government in conjunction with Weber State University and am a pioneer in the Davis School District for satellite broadcast classes. I received my undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University-Idaho in History Education and German Education and his Masters of Arts in History from Sam Houston State University. Most importantly, I am the husband to a beautiful wife and four wonderful little girls.
Classes I Teach:
CE US History
CE US Government
General Class Information:
The classes I teach are in alignment with the Weber State History and Political Science Departments.
CE US History (HIST 1700): The class is an analysis of American civilization and is intended to trace the social, cultural, economic, and political developments in the United States (US) and its institutions. An institution is a large organization, important tradition, or the introduction of a system, rule, or policy. We will study the origins and development of various political ideologies, the ever-changing social order of the people, and establish connections between culture, social life, and political order. This course does not attempt to cover all aspects of US history but rather examine five themes that have shaped our history, which were created and approved by the Weber State University History Department. CE US Government (POLS 1100): This course is designed to introduce students to American government through a broad survey of political institutions, interests, and processes through which policies are developed and implemented. We will study the structure of the American government system as it exists on the national level, its development, and review current issues it faces. Additionally, we will explore the basic of American politics, federalism, the separation of powers, civil rights, and liberties. The goal is to develop a foundational knowledge and understanding in order for students to better engage in the governmental system.
