Applied Language Arts 7

***The below schedule is what is proposed for 1st and 2nd Term.  If I determine that we need to take more time on a particular assignment, I will post an announcement of the change.  No student will be docked points for turning in an assignment late.  If we need more time we may bump some of the assignments to 2nd term.  But that will be determined at a later date.***

 

First Term Objectives:  Students will demonstrate the ability to research a given topic using reliable sources.  Students will demonstrate the ability to revise/edit their own writing to produce clear and coherent writing.  Students will demonstrate the ability to understand words and phrases in a given text, story or poem.  Students will demonstrate the ability to understand the central idea and theme of a text/novel/short story.  Students will demonstrate the ability to understand the use of conventions when writing, speaking, reading or listening.

Week 1-  Intro to Twits, Introduction to Canvas, and Intro to Quill.

Week 2 - Twits reading pgs 3-15, Intro to Characterization, Quill activities #1 & #2, Characterization 1 ,Twits Quizlet, 

                                         Week 3 - Twits pgs. 15-31 Twits Quizlet, Quill Activities, Characterization #2, Intro to Who Am I and Who am I #1.

 Week 4 - Twits pgs. 32-46, Characterization 3 & 4, Quizlet Part 2, Quill activities, and Quizlet.

Week 5 - Twits pgs. 46-65, Intro to Compare/Contrast & #1 & 2, Quill activities, and Quizlet. 

Week 6 - Twits pgs. 66-76,  Compare/Contrast #3 & 4, Who am I #2, Quill activities and Quizlet.

Week 7 - Twits post assessments, Intro to Character Comparison Essay.

Week 8 - Character Comparison Essay, Who Am I #3.

Week 9 - Character Comparison Essay and Quill activities.

Week 10 - Intro to Greek Myths, Greek Myths quizlet, make up work.

Second Term Objectives:   Students will demonstrate the ability to research a given topic using reliable sources.  Students will write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas, concepts, and information through the selection, organization, and analysis of relevant content. Students will demonstrate the ability to revise/edit their own writing to produce clear and coherent writing.  Students will demonstrate the ability to understand words and phrases in a given text, story or poem.  Students will demonstrate the ability to understand the central idea and theme of a text/novel/short story.  Students will demonstrate the ability to understand the use of conventions when writing, speaking, reading or listening.
