Term Project
These are the projects that you can choose from to complete this assignment. You may turn this in during class or submit it over Canvas. Complete this at least 1 week before the end of the term.
1. Attend a Concert and fill out a concert report. You may submit this on Canvas or turn it in during class. Attach a program, a ticket or have a parent sign the Concert report. If you are in a concert you may report on that. Concert Report Form.docx Download Concert Report Form.docx
2. Write a 16 measure composition using:
- Clef sign
- Key signature. Start and end with the note that is the key you chose (example- start and end with the note D if you are in the key of D-2 sharps).
- Time Signature
- right number of counts in each measure.
- Make sure that the stems on notes are on the correct side - Stems going up are on the right and stems going down are on the left.
Include:
- quarter notes & eighth notes
- at least 1 dotted note
- at least 1 rest
- bowings (some slurs)
- Dynamics
You may use Smart Music Composer or write the composition by hand using manuscript paper.
3. Write a 5 paragraph report on a composer or do a power point presentation. The composer needs to be someone who wrote for a symphony or for your instrument.
Include the following:
- A picture of the composer
- composer's birth & death dates
- Interesting facts about the composer's life
- musical period (baroque, classical, romantic, modern or contemporary).
- A sample of the composer's work - you can attach a link to a U-tube musical sample.
4.. Do a recording of yourself playing a piece on your instrument and send it to me. This has to be a piece that is different from what we are working on in class.
5.Report that you have completed 5 private lessons for the term.
6.. Be a member of Davis Youth, Utah Youth or another audition orchestra during the term.
7. Perform a solo at a recital, a meeting or some other event on your instrument.
