Ms. Pedersen's US Government & Citizenship Class March on Washington Image.jpg

Welcome to US Government & Citizenship!

I am so happy that you are joining me on this uniquely American adventure!  We will explore the American political landscape by examining the foundations of the US government and your role within the system of governance.  This class will encourage students to collaborate with students from all backgrounds and respectfully engage with diverse viewpoints.  We will train ourselves to pass the civics test and expand our understanding of the role of citizenship, civic duty, and patriotism as we reflect on what it means to be an American.

My name is Katie Pedersen and I am honored to have the opportunity to work with you this year.  I graduated from Layton High School and I attended the University of Utah where I earned three BA degrees and an MA degree in history.  I love to learn about social movements in history and America's role in the world.  I grew up obsessed with politics and believe that everyone should learn as much as they can about how social studies impacts our daily lives.  I love to travel and some of my favorite places are Denmark, France, the UK, Australia, and New York City.  My favorite place is Orlando, Florida because I am a huge Disney parks fan.  I also enjoy Broadway, my favorite movies are "Hello, Dolly!" and "My Fair Lady," and I am a lifelong folk music enthusiast.  I look forward to working with you at Clearfield High School!
