getting 2 know me
Aloha everyone! I plan on making the 2022-2023 the best school ever. I am excited to be joining the Layton High School family.
In Hawaiian the word for teacher is Kumu. So, my preference is to be called Kumu, Kumu Lum or Kumu Kim.
I am originally from Georgia but have spent most of my life living in Honolulu, Hawaii on the amazing island of O'ahu.
I recently taught in Salt Lake at a charter school called Pacific Heritage Academy. Before moving to Utah, I taught at the private school Kamehameha.
The school was founded by the last Princess (Bernice Pauahi Bishop) of the Hawaiian kingdom. Her goal was to allow for a bright future for the children of Hawaii by giving them a world-class education.
The school was established in 1887 and has a rich legacy of helping to infuse culture and rigor in all subjects. So, I come to Layton with a deep background rooted in the love of all cultures and people.
I adore my husband and 4 children. We love to travel together and play lots of card games.
I am pleased to share my experiences in what I have learned as an educator and a business professional/owner.
