Why: This assignment covers every thing we have learned so far this term. If you can draw these items accurately, you can draw most things.

Pumpkin Drawing/Final
Dear students,
This is your last assignment of this term. It is a typical assignment point wise, but it could raise your grade significantly, and it is good practice,
Look closely at the photo and draw it for 30 t0 60 minutes with a pencil. Block it in, then add value. Concentrate on drawing the pumpkin. Really look, don't draw from memory. Look and then look again, and again. Try to reproduce texture of the acorn shell, but don't worry that you haven't learned to draw texture, it will not be a significant part of your grade.
How I will grade your drawing.
If I think the blocking in is particularly nice, I will raise your grade in the line unit, your Mickey Mouse or Line Drawing grade.
If I think the forms are well made, I will raise a grade in the forms unit.
If I think the value work is exceptional, I will raise a grade in the value unit.
If I think the cast shadow was done well I will raise the grade on one of your shadow assignments.
Etc.
This is like a final test that can’t hurt your grade much, but it could help. I will not fail a student that does well on this assignment. I don’t expect a finished drawing. I am looking for skills, not completion.
You could photograph your drawing and upload it to canvas or you could email a photo of the drawing to me, or you may bring it to the school and give me a copy of it. Make sure you include your name period and date and make sure I get it before the end of the term.
We will be doing a similar drawing in class. You may do it in class, and on Canvas if you choose. I will give you the best of the two grades.
