Texture on a hand
If you need to go back to the previous assignment and look at the PowerPoint, do so. It has examples of how to reproduce texture with mark-making, It also has samples of finished hands.
- Trace your hands showing all 10 fingers. You may use any position you like as long as all of the fingers are showing.
- Look around your home and find things with texture on them. Some ideas would be: wood grain, bath towel, marble, bark from a tree, a leaf, fur, a napkin, the skin of an orange, celery, a rock, a ribbon, leather, basket etc.
- Draw a different texture on each finger for each texture you are trying to reproduce. Look closely at the texture, look for where it is dark or light, and try to reproduce it the best you can. If you are having trouble knowing what to do, look at the drawings students have done on the PowerPoint in the last lesson. If that doesn't help contact me.
- Draw for 5 full minutes on each finger. Make it the best quality you can and don't try to rush it. I would rather see a little high quality work on a tip of a finger than poor quality on a full finger. Preferably start at the tip and go down the finger. Put a different texture on all 10 fingers.
- To finish the drawing, do something fun with the palm or back of the hand. Your choice, this is where you get to show me your originality. Make the drawing your own. Spend about 10 minutes on the palms or backs of the hands.
Sign it, photograph or scan it, and turn it in to canvas.
