Honors Above & beyond on demonstrating Habits of Success. 2 or less late/missing assignments
Good I consistently demonstrate Habits of Success. 3-4 late/missing assignments
Satisfactory I usually demonstrate the Habits of Success. 5 or less late/missing assignments
Needs Improvement I rarely demonstrate Habits of Success. 3+ tardies. 6-7 late/missing assignments.
Unsatisfactory I don't demonstrate the Habits of Success. 3+ unexcused absences. 4+ tardies. 8+ late/missing assignments.

Habits of Success include: respect, attendance, quality and timely work, perseverance, commitment, organization, punctuality, and effort.

Grading:
All work will be on a 4 point rubric.  Assignments can be turned in late and should always be a student’s best work.  That way redos will not be necessary.

IEP and 504 accommodations will be given.  All students are expected to attempt all assignments to the best of their ability.

Other important information:
When a student is absent, it is their responsibility to look at the Announcements on Canvas to see what they missed and check with the teacher for any handouts.  They will probably have to schedule time after school in the labs/shop to get caught up.
Due to the "hands-on" nature of this class, excessive absences should be avoided.
Very little of the work can be done ahead of time or at home but must instead be made up by appointment on Wednesday mornings or during Spartan Academy.

Each student is required to bring all supplies, every day, unless the teacher announces differently.

Students can turn things in late without academic penalty, it is expected that they will take as much time as they need to create their best work.  Work will be accepted late, without academic penalty, until the end of each term.

Ms. Hunter's Classroom Disclosure:

I believe that education should be fun but also effective. In order for us to learn in a safe and productive manner, I expect all students to adhere to the following expectations. If expectations are not met or ignored, disciplinary action will be taken.

Expectations:

  • Follow Directions
    • This course is mostly exploratory which means we have a lot of hands-on projects. Following directions will ensure you get a good score and also keep you safe.
  • Be Prepared
    • This includes bringing a pen or pencil and your charged laptop every day.
    • Be on time. Students who are not in their seats when the bell rings will be marked tardy.
  • Stay Focused
    • Because we do a lot with hot irons and sharp needles, it is important to stay focused on what you are doing. I want every student to be safe and many accidents can be avoided by paying attention.
    • Goofing around will not be tolerated in the sewing labs. Using the labs is a privilege and can be taken away if you are making unsafe decisions.
    • Phones and personal devices are to be put away in either backpacks or pockets. This includes headphones! Laptops will be used in class for learning. During these times I expect students to stay off games, social media sights, and other distracting webpages.
    • Because we are in the sewing lab with expensive equipment, no food or drink is allowed in the classroom. Water bottles with lids are the exception.
  • Respect Everyone

    • Everyone has a different perspective on life and in this classroom those differences are celebrated. Name calling, put-downs, and bullying of any sort will not be tolerated.
    • Students should raise their hands to talk. When I or other students are talking, I expect students to be quiet and listen.
    • Respect school equipment and property.
