Course Description: Viewmont High School students are required to take 4.0 credits of English, in order to graduate. This year-long course fulfills 1.0 of these credits. Aligned with the English 11 DESK Standards. this class will focus on proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language at the 11th-grade level. Specifically, students will read a variety of works from American and multicultural literature and will become proficient in writing narratives, expository pieces, and argumentative essays. Students will read and analyze foundational U.S. documents. Students will also become confident and proficient in conducting and presenting research.

Supplies:

a charged, school-issued computer
a composition notebook (just for this class)
three-ring binder or folder (does not need to be just for this class)
loose leaf paper
reading book (no electronic reading)
school-issued copies of texts
pen/pencil
(suggested) highlighters or borrow from the classroom
(suggested) headphones/earbuds or borrow from the classroom
