Directions:

2. Create a Pros and Cons list on a separate sheet of paper - this will be turned in and graded for completion.

3. Create a list of academic vocabulary they use in the article that you can incorporate into your essay - write at the bottom of your Pros and Cons list

4. Take a position - and list reasons to support your position (circle those reasons on your Pros and Cons list)

5. Determine the best Counter Argument - label and write it on your P & C list

6. Write your Argument essay directly into CANVAS (not a file upload from Word).  Make sure you have an introduction that includes a Hook, Claim and reasons, body paragraphs that explain your reasons, a counter claim, and your rebuttal to that counter claim as well as a dynamic conclusion that in some way restates your original claim.  Incorporate some academic language from the article into your essay as well as appropriate transitions to link ideas together.  You may use your Argument Outline handout and Claim Evidence Reasoning handout to help you.
