BIOMES TRAVEL BROCHURE PROJECT
Purpose: You are a travel agent selling vacation packages to tourists around the world. Create a creative brochure promoting a Biome (Tundra, Taiga, Temperate Deciduous Forest, Temperate Grassland, Desert, Cloud Forest, Rainforest.....etc. There are many more!) using information you gain through your Internet research. You want to show how these Biomes are affected by changing climates.
Directions:
- Choose a specific location you would like to promote as a unique travel experience. Identify its biome and describe traits of the biome in your travel brochure. Use as much information as possible, including: climate, location (continent and latitude), major land or water features, and types of plants and animals living there.
- Create a three-fold brochure.
- Include at least four photos, drawings or other types of artwork that help describe and promote your biome vacation spot.
- Include interesting or unusual facts that tourists may not know about.
- One column or fold of the brochure (which must be visible on the front when folded) must include the Title and a Slogan for your biome vacation. This is also a good location for a photo or graphic.
- Another column or fold of the brochure (which must be visible on the back when folded) must include your name, class section, and all sources of information including website addresses, text books)
- The remaining columns/folds of the brochure should be informational and convince potential tourists to spend money on your trip!
- No columns/folds should be left blank!
- Weather & climate* Predator/prey relationships* Human impacts
- Information in your brochure may include:
-
Geographic location
* Weather & climate - Also mention how the changing weather and changing climate affects the biome.
* Flora (plants) and Fauna (animals), Include endangered ones.
* Predator/prey relationships
* Ecological issues or concerns
* Human impacts
* Landforms, bodies of water
Grading: Your brochure project will be graded based on the attached rubric.

- Tour travel brochure/presentation must be about a SPECIFIC LOCATION. Then describe the type of biome it is in along with any unique traits (animals, plants, weather, foods, geological formations).
- All photos must have captions
- All information must be in your own words.
Internet Research (These questions should be answered in your brochure).

- What is the climate of your biome (temperature, precipitation)?
- What is the location of your Biome (continent, latitude and longitude)?
- What are the major land features of your biome (including soil type)?
- What are the major water features of your biome?
- What types of plants live in your biome?
- What kinds of animals live in your Biome?
- Are there specific predator/prey relationships in your biome?
- Name a producer and a consumer native to your Biome.
- What are the ecological issues and concerns in your Biome?
- What types of landforms/geological formations are in your Biome
- How has the changing climate affected your Biome?
-
How to complete this
- When you have completed your research, your assignment is to produce a threefold informational brochure about what you have learned about your biome. This can either be computer generated with your information or done by hand.
- When doing it by computer, it is easiest to use a template in Microsoft Office 365. This is your school account. You can download a template either from microsoft word or microsoft PowerPoint to get you started. Here is a link to a template using PowerPoint:
