Digital Literacy - Grade 8
Digital Literacy introduction to computer literacy. Students will have opportunities to use technology and develop skills that encourage creativity, critical thinking, productivity, and collaboration in the classroom and day-to-day life. Skills will be demonstrated by creating a project for a different content area. This course is aligned with national and international standards and the Utah Core to prepare students across multiple levels of skills. Students will complete this course with a prerequisite to move into high school computer literacy courses.

Exploring Computer Science - Grade 9
Fulfills .5 Digital Studies credit graduation requirement
Rather than focusing the entire course on learning software tools or programming languages, the course is designed to focus the conceptual ideas of computing and help students understand why certain tools or languages might be utilized to solve a particular problem. The goal of Exploring Computer Science is to develop in students the computational thinking practices of algorithm development, problem solving and programming using problems that are relevant to the lives of today’s students. Students will also be introduced to topics such as interface design, limits of computers and societal and ethical issues.
